When you would use this
A payslip is the record an employee uses to prove income — for a visa, a loan, a rental agreement or a new job. It is also the document they will look at hardest, because it is about their money, and it is the one place a rounding error gets noticed within the hour.
Earnings and deductions sit side by side for a reason. The question a payslip has to answer instantly is “why is this less than my salary?” Two columns and a net figure answer it without anyone doing arithmetic. A single list of numbers with a total at the bottom does not, and generates the query it should have prevented.
Name the deductions specifically. “Other deductions: 12,000” is the line that produces an email. Income tax, provident fund, an advance being recovered, four days of unpaid leave — each named and each with its own figure. If an employee can reconstruct the number themselves, they usually will and then say nothing.
The net is printed in words as well as figures. That looks old-fashioned and it is still what banks, auditors and visa officers expect, and it is the fastest way to catch a misplaced decimal — “one lakh twenty thousand” next to a figure that reads 12,000 is an error anybody spots.
What this cannot do is calculate anything for you. It formats the numbers you enter; it does not know your tax slabs, your provident fund rate, or how many days somebody was absent. Payroll is a calculation problem before it is a document problem, and once you are producing these monthly for more than a handful of people, the document is the easy part.

- No. It formats what you enter. Tax slabs, provident fund rates and absence deductions vary by country and employer — this tool does not know yours and will not guess.
- Why print the net in words?
- Banks, auditors and visa offices still expect it, and it is the fastest way to catch a misplaced decimal — words and figures disagreeing is obvious at a glance.
- How specific should deductions be?
- Very. 'Other deductions' generates an email. Name each one — tax, provident fund, advance recovery, unpaid days — and most queries never happen.
- Can I add my logo?
- Not on this one yet. Generate the slip, then use the letterhead tool to put your company paper behind it — that gives a better result than a logo in a corner.
- Is employee data sent anywhere?
- No. The PDF is built in your browser and nothing is transmitted or stored, which matters more here than on most tools.
